Great Islands Clean-Up: Fall 2026!

There are so many things to love about fall in the islands!

One of our favorite fall traditions is coming back together after the busy season to clean up our shared trails, beaches, and roadways. The Great Islands Clean-Up is a county-wide event, supported by San Juan County and the WA Dept. of Ecology and brought to life by various organizations across the islands — including Lopez Solid Waste!

This fall, the event is taking place on Saturday, September 26! Here's our tentative schedule for the day, which matches past events:

• 10 to 11am — Check in at Lopez Village Park! Pick a route, grab supplies, and share a coffee and snack before heading out! We'll have high-visibility vests, garbage grabbers, buckets, bags, and gloves to share

• 12 to 2pm — Drop off litter at the Dump, following signs for "GICU." We'll weigh your collection and add it to our Lopez total. Be sure to bring back any borrowed equipment so we can use it all again in the spring!
