DISPOSAL FEES
A 3.5% processing fee will be added to each credit card transaction.

GARBAGE BY VOLUME

Minimum charge – $6.00

32-gallon container – $12.00

55-gallon container – $21.00

Non-standard containers – $0.38 per gallon

Truck/trailer load, common – $2.81 per cubic foot

Truck/trailer load, high-density* – $5.62 per cubic foot

Furniture, small (< 12 cubic feet) – $15.00 each

Furniture, large (12+ cubic feet) – $25.00 each

Sofa bed – $35.00

Mattress pad (12.5"+) – $12.00

Mattress, twin – $17.00

Mattress, full/double – $22.00

Mattress, queen/king – $30.00

Propane tank, empty (BBQ-style, up to 10 gal)* – $9.50

Tire/wheel up to 16.5" – $15.00 each

Small motorized equipment, empty of fluids – $15.00

Large appliance, non-refrigerated – $30.00

Refrigerated/freon appliance – $56.00

Printer, scanner, copier – $15.00

*BBQ-style propane tanks only. No camp-style canisters—bring these to a Hazardous Waste Round-up.

UNSECURED LOADS

Car load not properly secured – $3.00

Truck/trailer load not properly secured – $5.00

FREE LITTER DISPOSAL

If you pick up litter on a public beach, roadway, or trail, you can dump it at Lopez Solid Waste for free. Notify the kiosk attendant upon arrival and let them know where you picked it up and how many people helped.

FREE RECYCLING & REUSE

Many items can be dropped off for recycling at no charge:

Most #1 and #2 plastic bottles, with some exceptions
Glass bottles and jars
Paper and corrugated cardboard
Metal items and scrap metal

Many reusable items can be donated at Take It Or Leave It (TIOLI), including clothes, tools, books, furniture, kitchenware, sports equipment, jewelry, and more. Some items are still subject to disposal fees and all items must be approved by TIOLI staff.

Hazardous Waste Disposal — Some hazardous materials can be safely disposed of at the Lopez Dump. Others must be stored and disposed of at a Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up event. See all hazardous waste guidelines >
