Take It or Leave It (TIOLI)
Take It Or Leave It is an extension of our island's strong culture of reduce and reuse, strengthening our circular economy and reducing our collective waste at the same time. Residents and visitors can come and take what they need — books, clothes, home goods, tools, etc. — on shopping days, free of charge.
HOW IT WORKS
1. On Saturdays and Mondays, donate clean, seasonally appropriate, and fully-functioning items. Each item must be inspected and approved by TIOLI staff. Before you come, please review our donation policies below. To mitigate rising disposal costs, a handful of items must still be paid for, even if they are accepted at TIOLI. Review all fees here.
2. On Fridays and Sundays, "shop" for what you need and take it for free! Limited parking is available on-site, and parking is not permitted on the street. Please read all signs and follow staff direction. Two spaces are available in front of TIOLI for loading only (5-minute limit). If all parking spots are full when you arrive, please come back in 15-30 minutes!
Before visiting TIOLI, please review our Hours and Donation Policies below. Items may be refused by TIOLI staff for any reason. We appreciate your help practicing safety, respect, and kindness toward all staff, volunteers, and customers.

Donation Policies
-
Bring clean, fully functioning, and seasonally appropriate items on Saturdays and Mondays during open hours.
-
Each item must be inspected and approved by TIOLI staff before it can be left at TIOLI. Staff may refuse any item for any reason, including but not limited to safety, seasonality, condition, and capacity.
-
Many items are not accepted at TIOLI — please review the "Do Not Bring" items list below.
-
If an item is refused, it is your responsibility to take the item off-site or pay to throw it away on-site. Please respect all TIOLI staff decisions.
-
Fees still apply to some items, even if they are accepted at TIOLI. This is due to rising disposal costs for items that are not taken, which we must minimize as a responsible community-owned and operated organization. Fees are subject to change by the LSWDD Managing Board.
